North Shore Music is not your usual music instruction school. You are in the driver’s seat for the type of music you want to pursue. Our goal is to work with you to meet your musical goals whether that goal is to learn to sing or play in a band just for “fun” or to get ready for the recording studio or that next gig. We promise you will never be forced to learn from the “traditional music books.” Instead, you will be coached by professionals who have “been there, done that.”
We have multiple locations to serve you. Private vocals and song writing can be held online from anywhere you have an Internet connection. These scheduled, live lessons. The North Shore Music Loft is located on the north shore of Hay Bay in greater Napanee and is where all band and group lessons will be held. Individual lessons and mentorship will also be held at The Loft for those who prefer being in the same room as the instructor/mentor.
Just want to build some confidence to sing or accompany yourself at that next campfire or party? We do that.
Need to get your band performance ready or just improve your overall performance? We will help you with microphone technique, arrangements, song selection, or anything else you need assistance with. We can even assist you with your original songs!
Want to be in a band or a vocal group but don’t have your own players? We will do our best to connect you with other musicians with similar tastes and aptitudes.
It doesn’t matter whether you want to learn to sing along with your favourite songs, become a karaoke star, sing in a basement band, or are professional musician, if you want to improve your performance then you have come to the right place!
At North Shore Music you will be working with Dave Perry, former owner of The Vocal Studio in Oshawa, and Dave Curran, guitar player. As you can see from the above photo, the Loft is still under construction but we are offering private vocal lessons over the Internet now.
Dave Perry has been a professional musician for many years. He was the front man for several bands that played in bars and hotels across Canada. He also plays drums and keyboards, and he was the manager for the band program at The Music Lesson Place in Oshawa before he opened his own studio. Dave’s students have been in the recording studio, selected to sing at the Skydome and Air Canada Center, won local karaoke contests (prize was studio time and radio air play). One student made the top 10 of Canadian Idol, and another was a contestant in the Rock Star Supernova contest.
